No, not retrieving deleted SMS. If some body edits the SMS message he received by adding or removing something as make it appear as if the original sender sent it. can we detect it?

| If someone edits the SMS on the SIM, you could compare it to the SMS sent through the service provider if you hit them with a subpoena or preservation order quickly enough..... |
