I am trying to find out if Apple keep records of the IMEI numbers of the phones they supply to service providers to sell on. For example, I have an iPhone in for examination that was supposed to have been sold by Vodaphone, but I know for certain that Vodaphone have never been in possession of that phone because they keep records of the IMEI numbers of the phones issued to them by Apple.
What I would like to do is try and identify which service provider sold this particular phone. Does anyone know if Apple keep a record of who they issue specific phones to, and if so, how do I go about making that enquiry with them?
Have managed to answer my own question and thought I would post the answer in case anyone else was interested.
Apple do indeed keep a full record of which service provider has their phones. Their support team was also able to tell me on what date the phone was purchased and the name of the purchaser, all of which is very useful in the case I am working on.
