I am in my last year of university majoring in Forensic Science with an interest in computer forensics, more specifically mobile forensics. For one of my classes I have to do a research proposal coming up to a problem associated with my area of interest. The only problem I am having is any solution that I can come up with will be irrelevant in 3-5 years due to technology growing. I was wondering if anyone here would have any ideas what would be good to look into that would be useful for the field of forensics and would also be interesting to look at.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So ... what will remain constant ... due to technology growing? That's easy ...
The need to validate that tools do what they are expected to do when they are updated or patched.
The need to verify that results/findings/artifacts are the same (or that they have changed) when a platform is modified or updated or patched ....
And there will never be an end to grunt work in general. (The two first suggestions may be viewed as a particular species of that kind of activity. I'm sure other readers can provide you with their own 'favourite' forms of it.)
Can you help making such things easier without sacrificing the stringency required?
During the 1980s, most digital forensic investigations consisted of "live analysis", examining digital media directly using non-specialist tools. In the 1990s, several freeware and other proprietary tools (both hardware and software) were created to allow investigations to take place without modifying media. This first set of tools mainly focused on computer forensics, although in recent years similar tools have evolved for the field of mobile device forensics.
