New to the forum

Dec 1, 2006
Hey, I'm new to the forum here. I'm hoping to go to Champlain College in VT to get my BS Degree in Computer and Digital Forensics. If anyone has heard anything about this school, good or bad, please tell me about it. Reason why I want to major in that is because I like computers in the first place and I want to help people. If I don't do this major, I'll either do Networking or Information Security.

There are a number of people (including myself) that are Champlain students. If you do a forum search for "Champlain", you will find a number of posts here describing the information you seek.

I new to this forum as well but have been around some of the others for a while. I too, am in the BS C&DF Program at Champlain. However, I'm in this field for a different reason than most. I've done Infosec and CompuSec for almost 20 years. I got tired of fighting the bad guys can stupid IT Managers and CEO's. Now, I get to play with cool toys, learn new skills, (politically correct phraseology - I have the opportunity to identify, advise and instruct on proper computer security) and generally have fun.
However, if I was choosing a profession to support my self and pay bills in the near term -- choose Computer Security as major and minor in C&DF.
Some states have fairly rigid licensing requirements -- must qualify for an PI license (three years a full time investigator experience) plus various ED. requirements.
