Tool for sound forensics

What is the best tool to make a digital sound copy for evidence. I am new to CF. Also if there are any documentation online that anyone knows off kindly update me

the image file is a .dd and i wish to extract the audio component from the image file
The reason it is in a DD is because a DD is a forensic container. Make a copy of the DD and work on the file from within the DD to maintain the integrity of the evidence.
